MY KIDS
Have kids? Great! W love the energy and vitality youth bring to our faith community. People of all ages participate in our intergenerational worship services, but about halfway through our worship time, kids are invited to participate in a childrens message with our pastor. Most four yr olds-5th graders then choose to go with our teachers to our education area on the lower level for an activity, snack, and bible lesson.
FAQ
Have questions? We have the answers!
We are located on the North East side of Shelby, Iowa.
Worship Services are at 10:30 AM throughout the school year. Our Summer Hours begin after Memorial Day and are at 9:00 AM
Parking is available on the North side of the Church in our parking lot. There are also some spaces on the South and West sides of the church on the street.
Yes! We love kids and they are welcome in our worship services! We also have Sunday School available for preschool-5th grade. A nursury room is available on the lower level for parents with babies and toddlers to use if they would prefer.
Our worship services are generally a relaxed mixture of traditional and contemporary elements such as projector and screen to help guests follow along with the worship words and music. We have an organist to play our hymns and use recorded music for contemporary songs. Every service has scripture readings, prayers, music, and the proclaimation of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We celebrate Holy Communion twice a month on the first and third Sunday of the month. Most services are between 45 minutes to an hour long. Worshippers usually wear business casual style of clothing- clean, comfortable and covered.
If you want to get involved in a ministry that is already happening, our pastor or secretary can help you get in touch with the leader of that ministry. Most often, you can just show up and dive right in! If you have your own idea for a ministry, talk with our pastor and council members to see if the idea fits with our overall mission.
Our Small Groups have taken a hiatus during the Covid-19 pandemic. We are hoping to get them started again soon. Stay tuned!
We have both a mens and women's group. Each work on different service projects. If you want to serve within the church, we are always open to people helping as ushers, greeters, readers, teachers, and communion assistants. If you want to serve outside the church, we are connected to New Visions Homeless Services, Local Food Pantries, and visiting shut-ins.
